LEVENS NAMED 2007 SUNY COBLESKILL MALE ATHLETE-OF-THE-YEAR
Senior Creig Levens of Berlin, NY been selected by the SUNY Cobleskill Athletic Department as the 2007 Stanley Nevins Outstanding Male Athlete Award winner. The Berlin High School alumnus was a two-year member of the Fighting Tiger Men's Cross Country and Track & Field programs during his time with the Fighting Tigers.
Levens was a two-time All-Mountain Valley Conference Team honoree and two-time All-NJCAA Region III Second Team honoree in cross country for the Fighting Tigers on his way to Third Team NJCAA All-American Honors in 2006 and First Team All-American honors in 2007. Named the program’s most valuable runner in both 2006 and 2007 Levens won a total of five individual invitational titles during his Cobleskill career.
On the track the Berlin, NY, native won the 2006 Mountain Valley Conference Championship at 10,000 Meters to earn all-league honors in the event then placed second in the 10,000 meters at the 2006 NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field National Championships to place to earn Second Team NJCAA All-American honors. In 2007 Levens was a three-time national qualifier for the 2007 NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field National Championships placing third in the 10,000 Meters and sixth in the 3200 Meter Steeplechase. He was named the program’s Most Valuable Athlete in 2007 completing his Fighting Tiger career as a five-time scorer at the NJCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships.
Named in honor of former Fighting Tiger Head Lacrosse/Wrestling/Cross Country Coach Stanley Nevins, the award is presented annually to the Cobleskill senior athlete whose career has been deemed by the college’s athletic staff to be the most outstanding of all male student/athletes in the program.
