PUTNAM NAMED SUNY COBLESKILL WOMEN'S 2007 SCHOLAR/ATHLETE
Senior Cassie Putnam, Cobleskill, NY, Cobleskill-Richmondville High School, has been awarded the 2007 Mary Danaher Women's Scholar/Athlete Award by the SUNY Cobleskill Athletic Department. The award presented at the college’s recent Athletic Award Convocation is given to two-year student/athlete who combines an outstanding academic record with athletic performance and is named in honor of former long-time Fighting Tiger Athletic Director Mary Danaher.
Putnam was a two-year starting outside hitter on the Fighting Tigers’ women’s volleyball earning All-Mountain Valley Conference and All-NJCAA Region III honors during her freshman year in 2005. While playing for the program, she helped the team to back-to-back undefeated Mountain Valley Conference Championship seasons and a pair of NJCAA Region III Division III Championship Tournament appearances during her career. During her tenure with the program Cobleskill also posted back-to-back twenty-win seasons finishing 22-6 in 2005 and 20-6 this past season in 2006.
In the classroom Putnam earned her degree in SUNY Cobleskill’s Travel & Resort Marketing major posting a grade point average of 3.56 during her two-years as an active student/athlete at the college.
