COBLESKILL BASEBALL DROPS DOUBLE HEADER TO HUDSON VALLEY

The SUNY Cobleskill baseball team traveled to Troy, NY on Friday to meet Hudson Valley Community College for a Mountain Valley Conference doubleheader at Joe Bruno Stadium. The Fighting Tigers dropped both games to the host Vikings by scores of 8-7 and 7-0 to fall to 10-13 overall on the season with a 5-5 mark in conference play.
Freshman designated hitter Tom Weiner, Montrose, NY, Hendrick Hudson High School, tied the opener on a dramatic two-out seventh inning double that drove in two runs and tied the game at 7-7 before the Vikings scored in the bottom of the frame to decide the issue. For the day Weiner finished 3-for-4 at the plate with three doubles and three RBI while freshman shortstop Sebastian LaMountain, Cobleskill, NY, Cobleskill-Richmondville High School, went 2-for-2 with a double, a triple and a pair of RBI.
In the second game the Orange & Black could only manage two-hits against the home team with Tom Weiner going 1-for-3 in the loss.
The Fighting Tigers continue their extended weekend road swing on Saturday April 19th when they travel to Utica, NY to meet the Hawks of Mohawk Valley Community College for a Mountain Valley Conference doubleheader before returning home to Fighting Tiger Field on Sunday April 20th for a pair of regional contests versus Clinton Community College from Plattsburgh, NY beginning at 1:00 PM. |
