COBLESKILL BASEBALL DROPS DOUBLEHEADER TO FLCC 8-7 & 5-1

The long road to Canandaigua, NY was not a happy one for the SUNY Cobleskill baseball team on Sunday as the Fighting Tigers dropped a pair of games to Mid-States Conference power Finger Lakes Community College at Lakers Park by scores of 8-7 and 5-1. The losses drop the Fighting Tigers overall record to 6-7 on the season.
Trailing in the opener 8-4 going into the seventh inning, the Orange & Black scored three times in the frame but could not push a tying run across to drop an 8-7 decision. Senior first baseman Tom Hanson, Southold, NY, Southold High School, went 2-fo-3 with an RBI in the contest while freshman centerfielder Tim Capitummino, Schenectady, NY, Niskayuna High School, was also 2-for-4 in the game with an RBI.
In the nightcap the Fighting Tigers could only manage one run on three hits in the game. The lone run came when freshman outfielder Matt Greene, Albany, NY, Colonie High School, tripled to lead-off the second inning eventually scoring on a Tim Capitummino fielder’s choice.
Cobleskill will next be in action on Monday April 7th, when they host Adirondack Community College at Fighting Tiger Field in Mountain Valley Conference action beginning at 2:30 PM. |
