FIGHTING TIGER BASEBALL SPLITS A PAIR WITH COLLEGE OF ST. ROSE JV
The SUNY Cobleskill baseball team split a doubleheader versus the visiting College of Rose Junior Varsity on Sunday losing the opener to the Golden Knights by a 16-13 margin then coming from behind to take the second game by a 10-7 score. With the split the Fighting Tigers move to 3-13 on the season.
In the opener the Fighting Tigers failed to hold an early 7-0 lead over St. Rose despite limiting the visitors to a mere six hits in the outing. Freshman first baseman Matt Young, Bethlehem, NY, Bethlehem High School, was the main weapon for Cobleskill in the opener going 2-for-3 with a double and four RBI in the contest.
In the nightcap the Fighting Tigers rallied from a 7-3 deficit to make a winner of freshman reliever Matt Aker, Nelliston, NY, Fort Plain High School, who worked 3 2/3 innings of scoreless relief to earn his first career victory.
Senior shortstop Brian Larabee, Cheshire, MA, Hoosac Valley High School, went 3-for-4 with an RBI in the win while freshman Mike Disarno, Grand Island, NY, Grand Island High School, drove in two RBI with a pair of hits including a double on the afternoon.
The Fighting Tigers will next travel to Johnstown, NY for a doubleheader versus Mountain Valley Conference rival Fulton-Montgomery Community College on Tuesday April 12th beginning at 2:00 PM. |
