FIGHTING TIGER BASEBALL TAKES TWO FROM ACC TO EXTEND WIN STREAK
The SUNY Cobleskill men’s baseball team extended their current winning streak to five games yesterday traveling to Glens Falls, NY to whip the Timberwolves of Adirondack Community College by scores of 12-7, in eight innings, and 14-3 in Mountain Valley Conference action. With the victories the Fighting Tigers move to 7-13 on the season with a 4-0 mark in conference play.
The Fighting Tiger offense decimated the Timberwolves’ pitching staff pounding out 24 hits in the twin-bill. Freshman second baseman Ron Smalling, Yaphank, NY, Longwood High School, continued his torrid hitting pounding out six hits and drove in five wins to lead the Fighting Tiger offense. Smalling’s double play-partner senior shortstop Ryan Larabee, Cheshire, MA, Longwood High School, went 3-for-4 in the opener with a pair of RBI and freshman infielder Bryan Delmar, Gilbertsville, NY, Gilbertsville-Mt.Upton High School, paced the offense in the nightcap going 3-for-4 with two RBI in the victory.
In the first contest freshman reliever Kevin Zuchorski, Cobleskill, NY, Cobleskill-Richmondville High School, held Adirondack in check over two-innings of work in the extra inning victory to earn his first collegiate win as the Fighting Tigers scored six times in the top of the eighth to seal the decision. In the nightcap Senior Paul Palazzo, Bethpage, NY, St. John the Baptist High School, went the distance limiting the opposition to only four hits in the contest.
The Fighting Tigers will next be in action on Sunday April 17th when they host nationally ranked Hudson Valley Community College for a Mountain Valley Conference doubleheader beginning at 1:00 PM. Hudson Valley will enter the contest ranked fifth in the latest NJCAA Division III National Poll. |
