COBLESKILL’S FEUZ NAMED TO ALL-MOUNTAIN VALLEY TEAM IN BASEBALL
SUNY Cobleskill men’s baseball team member Steven Feuz, Cattaraugus NY, Cattaraugus-Little Valley High School, has been named to the All-Mountain Valley Conference Team by the leagues coaches. The crafty senior left-hander posted a 2-2 record with 3.29 for the Fighting Tigers with 38 strikeouts in 34 innings of work for the Fighting Tigers.
“Every time Stephen pitched we knew we were going to have a good chance to win. He was a pitcher that could go out and dominate a game not through raw power but because he was a crafty lefty who understood how to pitch to a batter as opposed to just throwing,” said Fighting Tiger Head Coach Shawn Noel. “Stephen was a pleasure to coach, a true gamer who would take the ball to the mound every day if I would have let him.”
For his part the Fighting Tiger hurler was gratified for the award and positive about the future of the program.
“When I looked at the quality of the players and the fact that 12 of the 15 selections were from two schools in the league you realize how much this means,” said Feuz. “It also shows that baseball is making progress at Cobleskill and that sometimes records don’t show the progress that is being made.”
A Turf-Grass Management major, Feuz lists the University of Rhode Island as one of several institutions that he is looking to potentially attend next year to continue his academic studies in turf and his baseball playing career. |
