2006 Mountain Valley Coach of the Year
Head Coach Bill Makarowski enters his third season leading the Fighting Tigers baseball program. Makarowski’s coaching style of demanding accountability from his players has produced impressive results in the classroom and on the field during this time. In two seasons, Makarowski has produced an overall record of 34 – 36, averaging over 17 wins per season. His 2006 team placed second in the Mountain Valley Conference with a program best 12-4 mark, and they reached the NJCAA Region III Tournament - the first time since 1995 for which the Cobleskill mentor was named the Mountain Valley Conference Coach-of-the-Year. During his brief tenure heading the program four Fighting Tiger players have earned All-Mountain Valley Conference Team Honors.
A native of Cobleskill, NY, Makarowski became the first Cobleskill alumnus to head the program since 1965. A standout high school performer, he was a member of Cobleskill-Richmondville High School’s 1997 Class B Section II Championship Team as a sophomore for Bulldog Head Coach Dale Wotherspoon.
The talented pitcher/outfielder was also a member of the Bulldog Section II Runners-up teams of 1998 and 1999. He joined the Fighting Tigers in the fall of 2000 and received the team’s Coaches Award for the 2001 season. In 2002 he was named as one of the team’s co-captains.
Coach Makarowski graduated from SUNY Cobleskill in May 2002 with his Associate of Arts Degree in Graphic Design and then transferred to the College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY earning his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Sports Management in May of 2005. While completing his degree he joined the Fighting Tiger coaching staff for the 2005 season as an assistant coach under Shawn Noel. Makarowski is currently earning his Master’s Degree at American Public University at West Virginia in Sports Management.
Makarowski also serves as the college’s Fitness Center Director and currently resides in Schoharie, NY.
