FIGHTING TIGERS CHECKMATE SCC ROYALS 76-41 IN MVC OPENER

The SUNY Cobleskill men’s basketball team used strong defense along with inside muscle and depth to quickly checkmate the Royals of Schenectady Community College by a 76-41 in Schenectady, NY last night in both team’s Mountain Valley Conference opener. The victory pushes the Fighting Tiger overall record to 3-2 on the year with a 1-0 mark in league play. The win also concludes a road swing for the Fighting Tigers that saw them play four games in seven days posting a 2-2 record.

“I thought that we finally defended the way we are capable of defending tonight. We held them to 18 points in the first half and took things from there,” said Fighting Tiger Head Coach Kevin McCarthy. “We also did a good job of controlling the boards on both ends of the floor and I thought that we shared the basketball pretty effectively. We’re slowly starting to get better and now we’ve got a difficult game against Corning at home on Thursday night to focus on.”
