FIGHTING TIGERS WIN 8TH STRAIGHT 75-62 OVER ADIRONDACK CC
The SUNY Cobleskill men’s basketball team took to the road last night to extend their current winning streak to eight games defeating the Timberwolves of Adirondack Community College in Glens Falls, NY by a 75-62 score in Mountain Valley Conference play. The victory boasts the Fighting Tigers’ overall record to 9-2 on the season with a perfect 4-0 margin in conference play.
“I thought that we defended them very well in the first half holding allowing only 23 points and that our defensive pressure really bothered them tonight,” said Fighting Tiger Head Coach Kevin McCarthy. “Offensively they struggled to defend our dribble penetration which led to which led easy opportunities for our wing players going to the basket and dump-offs and offense rebounding scores for our post players.”
The Fighting Tigers once again used their inside presence and a depth to put the game in the win column led by senior forward Stanly Francois, Valley Cottage, NY, Suffern High School, who scored 16 points grabbed seven rebound on the night. Senior swingman Devon Moore, Brooklyn, NY, Family Academy High School, also came up big in the win scoring a career high 15 points, taking down three rebounds and passing out five assists while freshman point guard Harley Fuller, Gloversville, NY, Broadalbin-Perth High School, scored eight points passed out 10 assists, had five rebounds and made four steals in the contest.
Helping dominate the paint were freshman power forward Anthony Armstead, Schenectady, NY, Schenectady High School, with eight points, three rebounds and three assists, freshman center Vladimir Colas, Warwick, NY, Warwick High School, with eight points and six rebounds, freshman center Jude Franck, Spring Valley, NY, Ramapo High School, who scored six points to go with three rebounds and freshman center Kyle Mitchell, Hadley, NY, Hadley-Luzerne High School, who scored four points in his return to his home area.
The Fighting Tigers will next be in action on Sunday December 10th when they travel to the Borough of Manhattan Community College in New York, NY beginning at 12:00 PM.
TIGER NOTES: The Fighting Tigers continued their hot shooting connecting on 29 of 50 field goal attempts for a percentage of 58.0%. It marked Cobleskill’s fourth consecutive game shooting above the 50.0% mark. The Fighting Tigers are currently tied for first place in the MVC boasting a 4-0 record with Mohawk Valley Community College and Herkimer Community College. The Fighting Tigers will close the semester out on the road as after their game with Borough of Manhattan Community College they will travel to Holyoke Community College in Holyoke, MA on Wednesday December 12th then finish up with a trip to North Country Community College in Saranac Lake, NY on Saturday December 16th. The Cobleskill offense continues to share the ball effectively as 23 of the team’s 29 opportunities were assisted baskets. |
