FIGHTING TIGER MEN DROP 68-65 DECISION TO HUDSON VALLEY IN TROY
The combination of a 16 point halftime deficit coupled with a cold stretch from the free throw line, 16-of-30 on the evening, proved too much for the SUNY Cobleskill men’s basketball team as they dropped a 68-65 decision to Hudson Valley Community College in Mountain Valley Conference play on the Vikings home floor in Troy, NY last night. The loss drops the Fighting Tigers to 15-4 overall on the year with a 6-2 record in league play. Cobleskill entered the contest ranked sixth in the current NJCAA Division III National Poll.
Freshman forward Stanley Francois, Valley Cottage, NY, Suffern High School, posted a double/double on the evening with 12 points and 13 rebounds tying for the team’s high scoring honors with freshman guard Jayson Taylor, Deer Park, NY, Ossining High School, who scored 12 points in the contest.
The Fighting Tigers displayed a balanced outing as freshman center/forward Vladimir Colas, Warwick, NY, Warwick High School, scored nine points and grabbed seven rebounds while freshman center Jude Frank, Spring Valley, NY, Ramapo High School, tallied nine points to go with five rebounds. Freshman point guard Harley Fuller, Gloversville, NY, Broadalbin-Perth High School, also contributed a fine all-round effort with eight points, six assists, four rebounds and three steals.
Cobleskill returns to action on Wednesday January 31st when they travel to Delhi, NY to meet the Broncos of Delhi Tech for a Mountain Valley Conference meeting beginning at 7:00 PM.
