COBLESKILL LACROSSE DROPS 16-15 DECISION TO SUNY DELHI IN OT

After racing to an early 10-1 lead the SUNY Cobleskill men’s lacrosse team dropped a heartbreaking 16-15 overtime decision to the visiting Broncos of SUNY Delhi in Mountain Valley Conference action on Thursday afternoon at the Cobleskill Lacrosse Complex. The loss drops the Fighting Tigers to 4-6 overall on the season with a 0-3 record in conference action to date.
Freshman attackman Alex Harwylkiewicz, West Babylon, NY, West Babylon High School, tied the contest with 38 seconds remaining in regulation on a dramatic drive and reverse pivot from directly in front of the Bronco goal but four subsequent Fighting Tiger shots-on-goal at the end of the fourth period were either wide of the mark or deflected. Delhi then ended the action in overtime as attackman Jeff Amer scored on a shot from 18 yards out with 3:38 remaining in the overtime period.
Senior midfielder Andrew Abbott, Onondaga, NY, Corcoran High School, scored five goals and passed out an assist in the contest while freshman attackman Brendan Wessman, Seaford, NY, Seaford High School, added five goals on the afternoon for the Fighting Tigers.
Cobleskill returns to action on Saturday April 19th when they host the Cougars of Genesee Community College at the Cobleskill Lacrosse Complex beginning at 1:00 PM. |
