FIGHTING TIGER LAX POUNDS MONTGOMERY 9-1 IN SEASON OPENER

The SUNY Cobleskill men’s lacrosse team opened the 2008 season by pounding host Montgomery Community College of Rockville, MD on Monday by a 9-1 margin. With the victory the Fighting Tigers open the season with a 1-0 overall record.
Freshman midfielder Matt Pierce, Ogdensburg, NY, Heuvelton High School, and freshman attackman Brendan Wemssen, Seaford, NY, Seaford High School, each had three goals and an assist in the victory for the Fighting Tigers. Cobleskill also received two goals and an assist from freshman attackman Jake Hitchins, East Greenbush, NY, Columbia High School, and two assists and a goal from senior attackman Matt Hughes, Wallkill, NY, Wallkill High School.
In the net, freshman Rob McDonald, Amherst, NY, Amherst High School, made seven assists in the contest while freshman Tom Knezkick, Columbia, NJ, Northeast Regional High School, had five assists in the victory as the goalie tandem held the Knights to only one goal on the day.
The Fighting Tigers will next be in action on Tuesday March 11th when they take on the nation’s number ten ranked team the of Community College Baltimore County-Catonsville, MD on the Cardinals home turf in Catonsville, MD with face-off at 4:00 PM. |
