FIGHTING TIGERS SWIM AT 2005 JAMESTOWN CC INVITATIONAL
The SUNY Cobleskill swimming & diving program took to the road for the first time this season traveling to Cortland, NY on Saturday for the 2005 Jamestown Community College Invitational hosted by Jamestown Community College at the SUNY Cortland Natatorium. The Fighting Tiger women posted a team score of 35 points to place eighth in the nine team field in the meet while the Cobleskill men amassed a total of 45 points to place seventh overall in the nine team event.
Freshman Gabrielle Asay, Greenfield Center, NY, continued to make a name for herself through the season’s early stages finishing: fourth in the 100 Freestyle, 1:00.72, fifth in the 500 Freestyle, 6:02.52, and seventh in the 100 Backstroke, 1:10.24. Senior Kim Pace, Hopewell Junction, NY, Arlington High School, also competed for the Fighting Tigers placing thirteenth in the 100 Breaststroke, 1:38.02, seventeenth in the 100 Freestyle, 1:23.23, and eighteenth in the 50 Freestyle, 35.27.
Senior diver Sam DeBoer, West Winfield, NY, Mount Markham High School, turned in the team’s top performance in the meet finishing third on the 1 Meter Board with a score of 182.0 points. DeBoer also placed fourteenth in the 100 Breaststroke for the Fighting Tigers in a time of 1:22.43.
Senior Kiel Wilcox, Cobleskill, NY, Cobleskill-Richmondville High School, turned in a solid performance for the Fighting Tigers placing fifth in the 200 Breaststroke, 2:55.81, and eleventh in the 100 Breaststroke, 1:18.08 while fellow senior Brian Fox, Clifton Park, NY, Shenendehowa High School, captured an eighth place finish in the 100 Butterfly, 1:09.96, a tenth place finish in the 100 Breaststroke, 1:15.70, and a twentieth place finish in the 100 yard Freestyle, 1:04.20.
Freshman D’arcy Shorthouse, Addison, NY, Addison High School, also continued to impress during his rookie season with a tenth place finish in the 50 Freestyle, 25.89, an eleventh place finish in the 100 Backstroke, 1:11.22, and a thirteenth finish in the 100 Freestyle, 59.95. Senior Art Barnardt, Staten Island, NY, Michael J. Petrides School, finished thirteenth in the 200 Freestyle, 2:21.90, and nineteenth in the 100 Freestyle, 1:04.00, on the afternoon with freshman Mike Sidoti, Pine Island NY, Warwick Valley High School, closing out the Cobleskill scoring with a thirteenth place finish in the 100 Backstroke, 1:14.00.
The Fighting Tigers will go on holiday for the Thanksgiving Break this week before traveling to Delhi, NY for a meet at Delhi Tech on Saturday December 3rd. |
