FIGHTING TIGER SWIMMERS MAKE SPLASH AT HARVEST INVITATIONAL

The SUNY Cobleskill swimming & diving program took to the road over the weekend competing at the Harvest Invitational hosted by Genesee Community College in Batavia, NY. The Fighting Tiger women posted a team score of 158 points to place second in the event while the Cobleskill men finished fourth overall with a score of 90 points.

The women were led by senior NJCAA All-American Gabrielle Asay, Greenfield Center, NY, who won the 100 Freestyle, 1:00.51, then came back to place second in the 500 Freestyle, 6:16.10, and second in the 200 Backstroke, 2:32.17.

Cobleskill also received strong individual performances from: freshman Kara Asberry, Gainesville, NY, Letchworth High School, who placed fifth in the 200 Backstroke, 2:54.93, and eighth in the 500 Freestyle, 7:05.62, freshman Megan Holstead Laurens, NY, Laurens Central High School, who finished fifth in the 500 Freestyle, 6:51.91, and fourth in the 1650 Freestyle, 24:42.03, freshman Ashley Richichi, Skaneateles, NY, Skaneateles High School, who was fourth in the 200 Freestyle, 2:28.89, and seventh in the 500 Freestyle, 6:55.16, and senior Ashley Arnold, Cortland, NY, Cortland High School, who was fifth in the 100 Freestyle, 1:08.71.

In the relay events the Fighting Tiger team relay team of Kara Asberry, Megan Holstead, Gabrielle Asay and Ashley Arnold placed second in the 400 Medley Relay, 5:10.27, and second in the 500 Freestyle, 4:43.92.

The Fighting Tiger men received another strong performance individually from senior Matt Hatlee, Cobleskill, NY, Schoharie High School, placed second in the 100 Freestyle, 52.02, and second in the 200 Backstroke, 2:17.65. Former Canajoharie High School standouts freshman Sam Adamoschek, Canajoharie, NY, Canajoharie High School, and senior Willie Cool, Canajoharie, NY, Canajoharie High School, also turned in scoring performances for the Fighting Tigers in the meet. Adamoschek placed eighth in the 200 Freestyle, 2:37.95, while Cool finished fourth in the 1650 Freestyle, 22:58.71, on the afternoon.

The Cobleskill relay team of  Willie Cool, Canajoharie, NY, Canajoharie High School, senior Shawn Susice, Carthage, NY, Carthage High School, Sam Adamoschek and Matt Hatlee closed the Fighting Tiger scoring placing third in the 400 Medley Relay, 4:40.91, and third in the 200 Freestyle Relay, 4:01.94.

The Fighting Tigers will next be in action on Saturday December 2nd when they travel to Delhi, NY for the Bronco Invitational hosted by Delhi Tech.
