FIGHTING TIGER SWIMMERS MAKE SPLASH AT DELHI FALL INVITATIONAL
The SUNY Cobleskill swimming & diving program continued their impressive season with the Fighting Tiger men placing second in a field of six teams and the Fighting Tiger women finishing third in a field of five teams at the 2006 SUNY Delhi Fall Invitational hosted by SUNY Delhi in Delhi, NY on Saturday. The Cobleskill men posted a team score of 218 points on the day to earn runner-up honors while the women tallied 186 for the meet.
Senior Matt Hatlee, Cobleskill, NY, Schoharie High School, did the bulk of the individual damage for the Fighting Tiger men as the talented first-year team member won the 50 Freestyle, 22.85, the 100 Freestyle, 52.08, and the 100 Breaststroke, 1:09.62, to pace the squad. Fellow senior Willie Cool, Canajoharie, NY, Canajoharie High School, also was a multi-event scorer for the orange & black placing second in the 200 Freestyle, 2:23.45, fifth in the 500 Freestyle, 6:54.41, and fifth in the 200 Breaststroke, 3:33.01, while freshman Sam Adamoschek, Canajoharie, NY, Canajoharie High School, also scored in multiple events placing sixth in the 100 Freestyle, 1:01.63, and seventh in the 50 Freestyle, 26.73. Senior Shawn Susice, Carthage, NY, Carthage High School, rounded out the individual scoring by turning in another solid effort finishing second in the 100 Backstroke, 1:17.52, and twelfth in the 50 Freestyle, 27.90.
In the relay events the Fighting Tiger team of Shawn Susice, Sam Adamoschek, Willie Cool and Matt Hatlee placed third in the 200 Medley Relay, 2:03.33, and second in the 200 Freestyle Relay, 1:45.67.
The Fighting Tiger women were once again led by senior NJCAA All-American Gabrielle Asay, Saratoga Springs, NY, who captured the 200 Freestyle, 2:15.48, the 100 Butterfly, 1:08.78, and the 100 Backstroke, 1:14.69, to go with a second place finish in the 100 Breaststroke, 1:26.78. Freshman distance performer Megan Holstead, Laurens, NY, Laurens High School, was also a multiple winner for Cobleskill taking the 1650 Freestyle, 23:45.70, and the 500 Freestyle, 6:48.19, while placing third in the 100 Breaststroke, 1:31.84, and freshman Kara Asberry, Letchworth, NY, Letchworth High School, continued her strong season winning the 200 Backstroke, 2:27.28, placing second in the 200 Individual Medley, 3:00.12, and finishing third in the 100 Backstroke, 1:24.58.
Cobleskill will return to action after the winter break when they host the 2007 SUNY Cobleskill Invitational on Saturday January 20th at the Bouck Hall Natatorium beginning at 1:00 PM. Admission to Fighting Tiger regular season home contests is free to the general public. |
