AQUATIGERS MAKE SPASH AT 2007 SUNY COBLESKILL INVITATIONAL
The SUNY Cobleskill swimming & diving program started the 2007 portion of their schedule in style on Saturday at their own 2007 SUNY Cobleskill Invitational. The Fighting Tiger women posted a team score of 208 points to place second in a field of five teams while the Fighting Tiger men scored 132 points to place third in a field of six teams in the semester’s opening contest.
Senior NJCAA All-American Gabrielle Asay, Saratoga Springs, NY, led the way for Cobleskill capturing the 200 Butterfly in a time of 2:42.95 then placing second in the 1650 freestyle with a mark of 21:57.58, and third in the 50 Freestyle in 28.59 seconds. The Fighting Tigers also received strong individual efforts from freshman Kara Asberry, Gainesville, NY, Letchworth High School, who finished second in the 200 Breaststroke in 3:19.36 and third in the 200 Backstroke in 2:55.60 and from freshman Meghan Holstead, Laurens, NY, Laurens Central High School, who finished second in the 500 Freestyle in 6:47.92 and fourth in the 1650 Freestyle in 24:02.60. Freshman Ashley Richichi, Skaneateles, NY, Skaneateles High School, placed was third in the 100 Freestyle in 1:07.75.
In the relays, the Cobleskill women’s team of Gabrielle Asay, Kara Asberry, Meghan Holstead and Ashley Richichi won the 400 Medley Relay with a time of 5:07.41 and took second in the 400 Freestyle Relay with a mark of 4:36.07.
The Fighting Tiger men were paced by freshman Matt Hatlee, Cobleskill, NY, Schoharie High School, who won the 50 Freestyle in 22.35 seconds and the 200 Breaststroke in 2:40.69. The talented frosh also placed second in the 200 Backstroke with a time of 2:18.60. Also scoring individually for Cobleskill was the duo of senior Willie Cool, Canajoharie, NY, Canajoharie High School, and freshman Sam Adamoschek, Canajoharie, NY, Canajoharie High School. Cool placed fourth in the 1650 Freestyle with a time of 23:10.17, third in the 500 Freestyle in 6:40.64 and eighth in the 200 Freestyle in 2:34.92 while Adamoschek placed seventh in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 2:31.28 and eleventh in the 100 Freestyle 1:03.78.
Cobleskill will next travel to Delhi, NY on Wednesday January 24th for a meet hosted by Delhi Tech at the college’s natatorium beginning at 6:00 PM. |
