COBLESKILL SWIMMERS HAVE STRONG OUTING AT HERKIMER INVITE
The SUNY Cobleskill women’s swimming & diving team captured their third invitational title of the season on Wednesday night posting a team score of 71 points to claim victory over the three-team field at the 2007 Herkimer Community College Invitational hosted by Herkimer Community College in Herkimer, NY. The Fighting Tiger men also competed in the meet placing second in the three-team field with a score of 46 points.
Once again the Fighting Tiger women used their relay teams to cement the invitational title as the squad of senior Gabrielle Asay, Saratoga Springs, NY, freshman Kara Asberry, Gainesville, NY, Letchworth High School, freshman Meghan Holstead, Laurens, NY, Laurens High School, and freshman Ashley Richichi, Skaneateles, NY, Skaneateles High School, captured both events winning the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 2:23.66 and the 200 Freestyle Relay with a mark of 2:06.22.
Individually, NJCAA All-American Gabrielle Asay won the 200 Freestyle, 2:18.96, and the100 Backstroke, 1:16.26 while Ashley Richichi won the 1000 Freestyle, 13:49.22, and third in the 100 Freestyle, 1:11.68. Megahn Holstead posted another exceptional showing winning the 500 Freestyle, 6:52.54, and placing second in the 1000 Freestyle, 13:51.16. Kara Asberry was also an individual scorer for Cobleskill placing third in the 100 Breaststroke, 1:34.12 and second in the 200 Individual Medley, 3:03.00.
Fighting Tiger senior Matt Hatlee, Cobleskill, NY, Schoharie High School, continued to highlight things on the men’s by winning the 100 Butterfly, 1:00.28, and the 200 Individual Medley in 2:13.47 . Freshman Sam Adamoschek, Canajoharie, NY, Canajoharie High School, placed third in the 50 Freestyle, 29.00 seconds, and third in the 200 Freestyle, 2:23.50, with while senior distance ace Willie Cool, Canajoharie, NY, Canajoharie High School, posted strong showings placing second in the 500 Freestyle, 6:36.02, and second in the 1000 Freestyle, 13:23.47. Senior Shawn Susice, Carthage, NY, Carthage High School, was also a factor placing second in the 100 Freestyle, 1:06.09, and fourth in the 200 Freestyle, 2:35.88.
In the relays the team of Willie Cool, Shawn Susice, Sam Adamoschek and Matt Hatlee placed second in the 200 Medley Relay, with a time of 2:03.84, and second in the 200 Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:46.13.
The Fighting Tigers will next travel to Delhi, NY, for the 2007 Bronco Invitational on Saturday February 3rd beginning at 1:00 PM to close out the regular season. |
