FIGHTING TIGER SWIMMING OPENS SEASON VERSUS SUNY DELHI
The SUNY Cobleskill swimming & diving team opened the 2007-08 season on Saturday at the Bouck Hall Natatorium with a dual meet versus SUNY Delhi on Saturday afternoon. The Fighting Tiger women dropped a 420 to 278 decision to the visiting Broncos while the Cobleskill men found themselves on the short end of a 549 to 32 score.
Senior Ashley Richichi, Skaneateles, NY, Skaneateles High School, led the way for the Fighting Tiger women winning the 200 Freestyle in 2:39.27 and the 500 Freestyle with a time of 6:49.99 while freshman Veronica Wolfe, Copiague, NY, Copiague High School, captured the 50 Freestyle in 31.24 seconds and freshman Tara Belcher, Philmont, NY, Taconic Hills High School, won the 100 Backstroke in a time of 1:18.92 and the 100 Freestyle with a mark of 1:07.96.
Cobleskill also received scoring efforts from freshman Chelsea Lee, Amsterdam, NY, Amsterdam High School, who placed second in the 50 Butterfly in 36.94 seconds, second in the 100 Individual Medley with a time of 1:21.79 and third in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:31.71 and from senior Kara Asberry, Gainesville, NY, Letchworth High School, who placed third in the 100 Individual Medley with a time of 1:25.68 and fourth in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:37.85. Senior Megan Holstead, Laurens, NY, Laurens High School, also turned in a second place finish in the 500 Freestyle for the Fighting Tigers with a time of 7:10.52.
On the men’s side of the pool, senior Sam Adamoschek, Canajoharie, NY, Canajoharie High School, was the top scorer for Cobleskill placing third in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 26.16 seconds and third in the 50 Butterfly with a time of 32.07 seconds.
The Fighting Tigers also captured the 200 Freestyle Mixed Relay as the team of Sam Adamoschek, Kara Asberry, Ashley Richichi and Veronica Wolfe won the unique event with a time of 2:07.10.
Cobleskill will next be in action on Saturday November 17th when they host the 2007 Donald Macomber Starting Block Invitational beginning at 1:00 PM at the Bouck Natatorium.
