COBLESKILL SWIMMERS COMPETE AT 2008 SUNY DELHI DISTANCE INVY
The SUNY Cobleskill swimming & diving program took to the road over the weekend to compete at the 2008 SUNY Delhi Distance Invitational hosted by SUNY Delhi in Delhi, NY on Saturday. The Fighting Tiger women posted a team score of 102 points to place fourth in a field of seven teams while the Cobleskill men finished sixth in a field of six teams with a score of nine points on the day.
Leading the women was freshman Chelsea Lee, Amsterdam, NY, Amsterdam High School, who met the NJCAA National Qualifying Standard in the 200 Breaststroke placing fifth in a time of 3:18.32 to go with a fourth place finish in the 50 Freestyle in a time of 31.29 seconds. Senior Ashley Richichi, Skaneateles, NY, Skaneateles High School, also continued to shine in the distance events for the Fighting Tigers meeting the national qualifying standard at 500 Meters by placing fourth in a time of 7:14.80 while finishing third in the 1650 Freestyle in 26:06.16.
Freshman sprinter Veronica Wolfe, Copiague, NY, Copiague High School, turned in another impressive meet placing third in the 100 Freestyle meeting the national qualifying standard in the event with a time of 1:12.23 and finishing third in the 50 Freestyle with a mark of 31.04 seconds. Senior Kara Asberry, Gainesville, NY, Letchworth High School, also posted a national qualifying effort in the 200 Breaststroke finishing fifth in a time of 3:26.12 then finishing second in the 1650 Freestyle with a time of 25:16.94.
On the diving board, freshman Kayla Gillis, Schenectady, NY, Schenectady High School, placed second in the One Meter Dive with a career best score of 118.10 points.
The Cobleskill men were paced by senior Sam Adamoschek, Canajoharie, NY, Canajoharie High School, who finished eighth in the 50 Freestyle with a national qualifying time of 26.21 seconds and ninth in the 100 Freestyle with a time of 1:00.13.
The Fighting Tigers will return to Delhi, NY on Wednesday January 30th for the 2008 SUNY Delhi Spring Invitational hosted by SUNY Delhi beginning at 6:00 PM. |
