FIGHTING TIGER SWIMMING AT DELHI TECH INVITATIONAL
The Fighting Tiger swimming & diving program made a strong showing against a competitive field at the Delhi Tech Invitational hosted by Delhi Tech in Delhi, NY on Saturday. The Cobleskill men’s placed fourth overall with a score of 122 points while the Fighting Tiger women brought home a seventh place finish with 32.5 points on the day.
Cobleskill was led by freshman Danny Porras, Great Neck, NY, Great Neck North High School, turned in the top individual finish for the Fighting Tigers on the afternoon placing third in the 100 Backstroke, 1:05.98, continuing his fine rookie campaign. Fellow freshman Brian Fox, Clifton Park, NY, Shenendehowa High School, also turned in a strong performance in the meet placing seventh in the 200 Butterfly, 2:46.27, and eighth in the 100 Butterfly, 1:09.32.
Senior Rick Harbers, Amsterdam, NY, Amsterdam High School, was a multiple individual scorer in the meet placing seventh in the 200 Freestyle, 2:04.46, and eighth in the 100 Breaststroke, 1:11.81, as was senior Jim Degosits, Schenectady, NY, Schenectady High School, who placed fifth in the 50 Freestyle, 24.37, and seventh in the 100 Freestyle, 55.55. Rounding out the individual scoring for the Fighting Tigers were freshman diver Sam Deboer, West Winfield, NY, Mount Markham High School, who placed fifth on the One Meter Board with 159.10 points and freshman Art Barnard, Staten Island, NY, Michael J. Petrides School, who finished eighth in the 1000 Freestyle with a time of 13:23.48.
In the relays the Fighting Tigers placed fourth in the 400 Medley Relay as the team of Sam Deboer, Dan Porras, Jim Dergosits and Rick Harbers posted a time of 3:50.59. Cobleskill also placed third in the 400 Freestyle Relay as the squad of Brian Fox, Dan Porras, Jim Dergosits and Rick Harbers turned in a time of 4:20.13.
On the women’s side the Cobleskill 400 Medley Relay of freshman Kim Pace, Hopewell Junction, NY, Arlington High School, senior Cassie Brandon, Catskill, NY, Catskill High School, freshman Leah Trombley, Chazy, NY, Northeastern Clinton High School, and senior Shizuka Terada, Shiga, Japan, Moryiyam High School, finished third overall with a time of 6:14.68.
The Fighting Tigers will next return to Delhi, NY on Saturday February 5th to compete in the 2005 Mountain Valley Conference Swimming & Diving Championships. |
