FIGHTING TIGER MEN’S TENNIS FALLS TO HERKIMER 6-3
The SUNY Cobleskill men’s tennis team saw their bid for the 2008 Mountain Valley Conference Championship end yesterday in Herkimer, NY as the Fighting Tigers dropped a hard fought 6-3 decision to the Generals in league action. The loss drops the Fighting Tigers to 4-3 overall on the year with a 2-1 mark versus conference competition while the Generals improve to 6-2 overall finishing league play with a perfect 4-0 record.
Once again Cobleskill’s dynamic duo of senior captain Greg Klopfer, Voorheesville, NY, Voorheesville High School, and freshman Zak Kraehmer, Wallkill, NY, Wallkill High School, posted all three Fighting Tiger victories in the contest. Klopfer remained unbeaten in singles play at the number three position winning his match by scores of 6-1 and 6-3 to improve to 7-0 on the season. Kraehmer took the number four singles slot by scores of 7-5 and 6-3 to improve to 6-1 overall on the season with a perfect 3-0 mark in conference play. The tandem also remained unbeaten in doubles action for the season improving to 7-0 overall at the number two spot taking their match by an 8-3 margin in a pro-set.
The Fighting Tigers will return to the courts on Thursday April 24th when they host the Broncos of SUNY Delhi for a non-conference match at the Cobleskill Tennis Complex beginning at 4:00 PM. |
