FIGHTING TIGER TRACK & FIELD COMPETES AT THE 2008 NJCAA REGION III MULTI-EVENTS CHAMPIONSHIPS

The SUNY Cobleskill track & field program will start the 2008 NJCAA Region III Championships in a strong position as the Fighting Tigers posted three scoring performances at the 2008 NJCAA Region III Multi-Events Championships hosted by Alfred State College in Alfred, NY on Sunday and Monday. The point totals will be added to the overall team scores compiled at the 2008 NJCAA Region III Championship Meet to be hosted by Alfred State College on Friday May 2nd and Saturday May 3rd.

In the Men’s Decathlon, freshman Kameron Whittmeyer, Yorkshire, NY, Pioneer High School, placed third overall with a score of 4874 points while senior Chris Torres, Middletown, NY, Minisink Valley High School, finished in fourth place with a score of 4667 points.

In the Women’s Heptathlon, senior NJCAA All-American Jennifer Villanova, Clifton Park, NY, Shenendehowa High School, posted a score of 2642 points to place fifth overall for the Fighting Tigers. Senior Kayla Evers, Oneonta, NY, Lighthouse Academy, also competed for Cobleskill, but did not score, placing ninth overall with a score of 1584 points.

The Fighting Tigers will next be in action on Tuesday April 22nd when selected team members will travel to Ithaca, NY for the Ithaca College Quad Invitational hosted by Ithaca College beginning at 3:30 PM.
