SUAREZ NAMED SUNY COBLESKILL MEN’S TRACK & FIELD TEAM’S MOST VALUABLE ATHLETE
SUNY Cobleskill men’s track & field team member senior David Suarez, Hauppauge, NY, Hauppauge High School, has been named the program’s Most Valuable Athlete for the 2007-08 season. Suarez received his award at college’s 2008 Athletic Awards Convocation. The Fighting Tigers finished the season by placing second at the 2008 NJCAA Region III Indoor Track & Field Championships, winning the 2008 Mountain Valley Conference and NJCAA Region III Outdoor Track & Field Championships and placing tied for second in a field of 23 teams at the 2008 NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
This season the talented sprinter established five individual program records and was a part of two relay team program records. Suarez was named the Most Valuable Track Athlete at the 2008 NJCAA Region III Outdoor Track & Field Championships after capturing regional outdoor event championships in the 100 Meter Dash and the 200 Meter Dash as well as helping the Fighting Tigers capture the 4 X 100 Meter Relay championship. During the indoor season the Hauppauge, NY native won the 60 Meter Dash title for Cobleskill. He closes his career as a four-time First Team NJCAA All-Region III and a three-time All-Mountain Valley Conference Team honoree.
