FIGHTING TIGERS INDOOR TRACK AT 2006 CLASS OF ’32 MEET
The SUNY Cobleskill indoor men & women’s track & field programs continued their 2006 campaign at the prestigious Class of ’32 Meet hosted by Colgate University in Hamilton, NY on Saturday. The Fighting Tiger men tied for ninth place overall while the Cobleskill women finished the day in twelfth place.
The highlight of the meet for the Fighting Tigers was delivered by men’s team member freshman Chris Dietl, Norwalk, CT, Norwalk High School, who broke the program’s indoor record for the 400 Meters with a time of 53.10 seconds to place seventh in the event. Cobleskill also received a scoring performance from the 4 X 400 Relay of freshman Chris Burke, Spencerport, NY, Spencerport High School, freshman Maverick Kendrick, Yonkers, NY, Lincoln High School, freshman John Bates, Bronx, NY, Walton High School, and freshman Dustin Slingerland, Scotia, NY, Scotia-Glenville High School, who placed eighth overall with a time of 3:43.36.
Fighting Tiger thrower freshman Kyle Robinson, Canastota, NY, Canastota High School, also turned in a solid performance in the 35 Pound Weight Throw with a toss of 37’6 ½” to place seventh in the field and in the Shot Put placing fourteenth overall with a make of 40’2 ¼” while freshman Eric Adjepong, Wallkill, NY, Wallkill High School, was tenth in the Long Jump at 17’ 5 ½”.
The Cobleskill women were led by freshman Beth Conte, Herkimer, NY, Herkimer High School, who place seventh in the 20 Pound Weight Throw with an effort of 31’7” and by senior Stephanie Schumann, Washingtonville, NY, Washingtonville High School, who placed eleventh in the Shot Put with a throw of 30’2 ½”. On the track senior Rachel Prehna, Stamford, NY, Stamford High School, finished twelfth in the 3000 Meters in a time of 12:22.15.
“We are very proud of Chris Dietl’s accomplishment this weekend and I think we’re starting to see all-around improvement in everyone as our post-break training starts to take hold,” said Fighting Tiger Head Coach Brad Fichthorn. “We have made consistent improvement and should be seeing some good performances in the near future.”
The Fighting Tigers will next travel to Ithaca, NY on Saturday February 4th to compete at Cornell University beginning at 10:00 AM. |
