FIGHTING TIGER TRACK HAS RECORD SETTING DAY AT 2008 RIDER/LAFAYETTE WINTER INVITATIONAL
The SUNY Cobleskill men’s indoor track & field program posted a series of program record setting and NJCAA National Championship qualifying performances at the 2008 Rider/Lafayette Winter Invitational Games hosted by Rider University and Lafayette College at The Armory in New York, NY.
Senior mid-distance runner Eric Graber, Troy, NY, Lansingburgh High School, qualified for the 2008 NJCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championships in the 1000 Meter Run meeting the national qualifying standard placing thirteenth overall with a time of 2:36.41 while freshman sprinter/mid-distance runner Emille Barnett, Huntington, NY, John Glenn High School, met the national qualifying mark in the 500 Meter Dash establishing a new program record in the event placing fifteenth with a time of 1:06.73.
Senior sprinter David Suarez, Hauppauge, NY, Hauppauge High School, had another record setting day for the Orange & Black breaking a pair of program records by placing eleventh in the 60 Meter Dash with a new record time of 7.07 seconds then coming back to place ninth in the 200 Meter Dash with a record mark of 22.38 seconds. Senior sprinter/mid distance runner Carlton Wildman, Huntington, NY, John Glenn High School, also established a new program record in the 400 Meter Dash placing ninth in a time of 50.19 seconds.
On the women’s side senior NJCAA All-American multi-athlete Jen Villanova, Clifton Park, NY, Shenendehowa High School, turned in the team’s top performance placing twenty-third in the Long Jump at 4.80 meters.
The Fighting Tigers will next compete at the 2008 NJCAA Region III Championships on Sunday February 17th hosted at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY beginning at 3:00 PM. |
