COBLESKILL TRACK & FIELD AT CORNELL UNIVERSITY INVITATIONAL
The SUNY Cobleskill indoor track & field program made an impressive showing at the 2006 Cornell University Invitational hosted by Cornell University in Ithaca, NY on Saturday.
Freshman Chris Dietl, Norwalk, CT, Norwalk High School, continued his strong freshman campaign setting a new Cobleskill record in the men’s 500 Meters placing fifth in the event in a time of 1:09.12 while also placing fourth in the 60 Meter Dash, 7.62 seconds, for the Fighting Tigers. Freshman Kaylan Ostrander, Queensbury, NY, Queensbury High School, also set a new program record for the Fighting Tiger women’s 300 Meters placing fifth in the event with a time of 48.70 seconds.
The Cobleskill men also received strong showings on the track from freshman Maverick Kendrick, Yonkers, NY, Lincoln High School, who placed fifth in the 200 Meters, 24.41 seconds, and sixth in the 400 Meters, 54.12 seconds, and from senior Chris Burke, Spencerport, NY, Spencerport High School, who finished sixth in the 200 Meters, 24.73 seconds, and tenth in the 400 Meters, 55.59 seconds. Freshman Brian Morrisey, Cortland Manor, NY, Hedrick Hudson High School, finished fourth in the 1000 Meters, 2:55.92, and freshman John Bates, Bronx, NY, Walton High School, paced ninth in the 60 Meters, 7,76 seconds, and tenth in the 200 Meters, 25.08 seconds, for Cobleskill.
The Fighting Tigers also received strong showings from freshman thrower Kyle Robinson, Canastota, NY, Canastota High School, who placed sixth in the Shot Put with a toss of 39’5 ¾” and eighth in the Weight Throw with a mark of 40’11”. Freshman Eric Adjepong, Wallkill, NY, Wallkill High School, also made a strong showing in the meet finishing eighth in the 200 Meters, 24.95 seconds, and ninth in the Long Jump at 19’9”.
On the women’s side senior distance runner Rachael Prehna, Stamford, NY, Stamford High School, placed fifth in the 800 Meters, 2:53.70, and fifteenth in the Mile, 6:17.34, while freshman Theresa Cox, Bellport, NY, Bellport High School, turned in a third place finish in the 800 Meters, 2:43.75. Senior Nichole Frank, Gouverneur, NY, Gouverneur High School, also turned in a solid showing in the 60 Meters placing sixth, 9.37 seconds, in the meet while freshman thrower Beth Conte, Herkimer, NY, Herkimer High School, placed ninth in the Weight Throw with a mark of 27’10” for the Fighting Tigers.
The Fighting Tigers will next return to Cornell University in Ithaca, NY for the Kane Invitational to be held on Friday February 10th and Saturday February 11th at the college’s Barton Hall facility.
