The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Technology Management: Financial Services program is nationally recognized as one of the faster growing career today. This dynamic career field includes such areas as insurance, investment banking, real estate, and personal financial planning. The financial services professional’s role is to aid individuals in making intelligent financial decisions.
The program is designed to provide students with the necessary applied knowledge and skills in the area of technology management, communications, and one of the following technical major field areas: culinary arts, financial services, and in technology.
The BBA: Financial Services program is designed to provide students with the necessary applied knowledge and skills in the areas of management, communications and financial services. The program has four main objectives:
To train professionals who are proficient, and have a solid grounding in the workings of financial institutions, brokerage houses, insurance companies, estate agencies, financial planning firms, and tax accounts.
To provide specialized, in-depth training in key areas of application.
To provide professional training for students who wish to combine financial planning with other disciplines, such as management, marketing or accounting.
To prepare students for graduate study and research in appropriate areas.
Employment/Transfer Opportunities in technology Management: Financial Services
Career opportunities for personal financial planners have increased dramatically in recent years due to new tax laws, proliferation of new investment products, in the regulatory environment, land changing technology. Careers in Real Estate include brokerage, appraisal, mortgage banking, and real estate development. Insurance professionals are needed in sales, actuarial science, underwriting and investments. Banks, saving and loans, credit unions, and finance companies offer a variety of career opportunities including loan officer, branch managers, installment lending, real estate, and commercial loans.
Bachelor’s Degrees
The 128 semester credits required for the Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Technology Management: Financial Services include seven semester of coursework and a one-semester internship in their areas of interest. Please refer to the B.B.A. program page for the distribution of the credit hours. Students transferring to Cobleskill after two years of study must have 45 credits in residence including the 12 credit-hour internship program requirement.
If a student changes his/her initial area of interest, it may require more than four years to complete the baccalaureate degree.
Transfer Credits Accepted Towards the Bachelor’s Degree
Students with the Associate Degree in Business usually receive a full two-year transfer of credit (60-66 credits) toward the credit requirement for the Bachelor’s degree. These students normally complete the Bachelor’s degree in three semesters of full-time study plus one semester of internship if they are transferring into a parallel degree program.
Students from non-technical or liberal arts degree programs may receive 60-66 credits toward the Bachelor’s degree program. These students may require more than three semester of full-time course work plus one-semester of internship to complete the baccalaureate degree.
Each application will be evaluated individually and the evaluation will vary from case to case depending upon the courses completed and the program selected for study.
Internship Program
One of the most exciting features of the Bachelor of Business Administration in Technology Management programs is the 12-credit hour internship requirement.
With the completion of this twelve-credit hour internship, these graduates will have experienced the real work world in their fields of expertise. This professional experience greatly enhances their qualifications and will be a definite asset as they seek employment.

Students with three or more years of professional experience in a field related to a B.B.A. degree program may petition the Dean of the School of Business for partial internship substitution.
The petitioning student will submit documentation to his/her internship coordinator, who will in turn present it to the School of Business committee for approval of substitution of up to six credits of course work or research projects. Decisions of the committee can be appealed to the Dean of the School of Business. Appeals will be reviewed by the Dean of the School of Business.
The B.B.A. internship is equivalent to one semester of coursework and will be billed and paid for independently of other coursework.
Degree Requirements
The 128 semester credit hours required for completion of the Bachelor of Business Administration in Technology Management: Financial Services include a minimum of 46 credits of major field requirements, 39 credits of professional requirements, 34 credits of liberal arts and science courses and 9 credits of general electives with a GPA of not less than 2.00, plus 45 hours of residency.
