The Bachelor of Business Administration in Technology management program prepares students for today’s globally competitive environment, where the use of technology is omnipresent. In order to maintain competitiveness, organizations will need to rely more than ever on the expertise and managerial effectiveness of their technical specialists.

In addition to preparing students for employment as technology managers in a variety of career fields, the program is designed to provide seamless transfer opportunities for students with associate degrees with no significant credit loss. The program also prepares students to seek further education in appropriate master’s degree programs.

Bachelor’s Degrees

The 128 semester credits required for the Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Technology Management include seven semesters of coursework and a one-semester internship in their area of interest. The student may select for one of the following areas: Information Technology, Marketing Communications, Small Business Management, or Tourism & Resort Marketing. Please refer to the B.B.A. program page for the distribution of the credit hours. Students transferring to Cobleskill after two years of study must have 45 credits in residence including the 12 credit-hour internship program requirement.

If a student changes his/her initial area of interest, it may require more than four years to complete the baccalaureate degree.

Transfer Credits Accepted Towards the Bachelor’s Degree

Students with the Associate Degree in Business usually receive a full two-year transfer of credit (60-66 credits) toward the credit requirement for the Bachelor’s degree. These students normally complete the Bachelor’s degree in three semesters of full-time study plus one-semester of internship if they are transferring into a parallel degree program.

Students from non-technical or liberal arts degree programs may receive 60-66 credits toward the Bachelor’s degree program. These students may require more than three semester of full-time course work plus one-semester of internship to complete the baccalaureate degree.

Each application will be evaluated individually and the evaluation will vary from case to case depending upon the courses completed and the program selected for study.

One of the most exciting features of the Bachelor of Business Administration in Technology Management programs is the 12-credit hour internship requirement.

Students with three or more years of professional experience in a field related to a B.B.A. degree program may petition the Dean of the School of Business for partial internship substitution.

The petitioning student will submit documentation to his/her internship coordinator, who will in turn present it to the School of Business committee for approval of substitution of up to six credits of course work or research projects. Decisions of the committee can be appealed to the Dean of the School of Business. Appeals will be reviewed by the Dean of the School of Business.

The B.B.A. internship is equivalent to one semester of coursework and will be billed and paid for independently of other coursework.
