Toxics in Consumer Products Topic of February 6 Dinner

“Toxics in Consumer Products,” will be the topic at Wednesday, February 6 installment of the SUNY Cobleskill Sustainability Dinner Series at 6 p.m. in the college’s American Heritage Restaurant.  Bobbi Chase Wilding, organizing director for Clean New York, will be speaking.

Chase Wilding has nine years of experience in the environmental health movement, including a year at New York Public Interest Research Group and eight with Citizens Environmental Coalition. She co-leads the Fenceline Action Workgroup of the Coming Clean Collaborative, where she recently coordinated the northeast leg of the Environmental Justice for All tour. She developed the interactive-map-based www.ecoTHREATNY.org, wrote “Environmentally Safe Hospitals: A Resource Guide for New York City Hospital Materials and Waste Managers” and “Environmental Racism in New York State,” and co-authored “Building Green without Going in the Red: A Household Guide to Healthy, Affordable Building Materials.” She holds a received bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science and a master’s degree in Ecological Economics, Values and Policy, both from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. A resident of Cobleskill, serves as vice president of Citizens for a Clean Environment.

The cost for the three course dinner is $25 per person.  Seating is limited to 30 attendees, so reservations are recommended by calling 518-255-5425.  American Heritage Restaurant is located in the college’s Prentice Hall and serves as a learning lab for students in SUNY Cobleskill’s Culinary Arts programs.

The dinner series, sponsored by the SUNY Cobleskill Sustainability Committee, will continue March 5, and April 17.
