SUNY Cobleskill Fall Applications Up
College Experiencing Increase in Transfers and Bachelor’s Degree Applicants
SUNY Cobleskill is experiencing an increase in overall enrollment for the fall 2008 semester, including transfers from other institutions, full-time bachelor’s degree students, and Educational Opportunity Program applicants.
“All of our areas are experiencing growth,” said SUNY Cobleskill Director of Admissions Chris Tacea. “Our programs are what students want in today’s market. We have the applied programs that give them hands-on industry experience.”
Throughout the 2007-08 academic year the Office of Admissions ramped up efforts to attract both external transfer students and first-time, full-time bachelor’s degree students. Outreach to community colleges and articulation agreements with other higher education institutions have resulted in a 23 percent increase in students transferring to SUNY Cobleskill.
Full-time bachelor’s degree student enrollment has increased by 14 percent. The increase is due in part to the addition of new bachelor’s degree programs, including a Bachelor of Science in Communications in Technology and two new Bachelor of Technology degrees in Turfgrass Management. The comprehensive college is also advancing its baccalaureate culture by moving to National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) membership.
SUNY Cobleskill’s Educational Opportunity Program had 755 applicants, a 23 percent increase over last year. |
