SUNY Cobleskill Honors Ag Society with Award
During the spring President’s Round Table breakfast, held Tuesday, April 22, SUNY Cobleskill recognized the Schoharie County Agriculture Society for the group’s continuous efforts at the Cobleskill Fairgrounds.
Throughout the year the Ag Society maintains the fairgrounds by painting and renovating the buildings, raising money to construct new buildings on site, and promoting commerce within the county. While the fairgrounds are commonly associated with the County Fair, horse shows, cattle sales, Boy Scout gatherings and many community events, like 4-H and baseball, are often held there. Events like these bring business to downtown Cobleskill restaurants, shops and hotels, and help put the village on the map.
During the breakfast SUNY Cobleskill Provost Dr. Anne Myers presented Ag Society President Doug Cater with a clock, recognizing the group’s tireless efforts. Engraving on the clock read, “In recognition of their commitment to improving the lives of the members of the SUNY Cobleskill Community and greater communities of Schoharie County, New York State, our country and our world.”
Previous recipients of the SUNY Cobleskill Community Champion Award include Schoharie County ARC, New York Power Authority, MID TEL and Fenimore Asset Management Inc.
