  • Sustainability Progress
Progress to date

In 2005 SUNY Cobleskill held our first Sustainability Week in April. During that week we highlighted what we are already doing toward sustainability. We (found that we)

  • Use green products in building renovation and rehab
  • Biofuels research and use
  • Use of IPM to modify and eliminate use of chemicals
  • Purchase low energy use products
  • Use low water use clothes washers
  • Use biodegradable soap
  • Composting
  • Encouraging energy conservation

Further progress:

  • Don’t Drain, Sustain activity
  • Energy use policy adopted by campus
  • Recycling containers; publicized schedule of recycling
  • Energy Diet in Knapp Hall
  • Investigating print quota
  • Expand composting
  • Joined University Leaders for a Sustainable Future
  • Designated April 2006 as Earth Month

Sustainable Development does not demand that we turn back the clock.

It only demands that we indulge in long-term thinking when we make decisions, rather than simply short-term economic gain.
