- Exploratory Studies
Degree & Program Information
(Application Curriculum Code - 0000)
Course schedules will be determined by student interest, consultation with an academic advisor and results of placement tests.
After being accepted by Admissions, students will participate in academic advisement prior to enrollment. Students and their advisors will work together to determine a strategy for exploring career choices. First semester schedules will include courses that most entering students take. English level is determined through self-placement and Mathematics level determined by placement. Students will elect several available courses in the academic disciplines. First semester schedules will also include an Exploratory Studies seminar emphasizing career choices.
After the first semester, Exploratory Studies students may make a decision to declare a specific major. If a decision is made to make a change at this time, students will complete the change process into their programs of choice. The department chairs of the new programs will evaluate all previous college course work to determine how the credits for that work will be applied to the new curriculum choices. If students are not ready to change to a major at this time, they may remain Exploratory Studies students for one more semester and continue to work with their Exploratory advisors throughout their second semester.
Full-time Exploratory Studies students must select a major by the completion of two semesters.
