Early Childhood, A.A.S.
Child Care Track
Associate in Applied Science Degree
(Application Curriculum Code - 1327)
This track is designed for those students who plan to work in the child care field after graduating with an A.A.S. degree or plan to transfer to a four-year degree program in Child Care Management.
Degree Requirements
To fulfill requirements for the Associate in Applied Science degree (A.A.S.), the student in Early Childhood must complete a minimum of 66 academic credits with an overall GPA of not less than 2.00 and “C” grades or better in all required major field courses.
Additionally, Early Childhood majors must complete all prerequisite freshman level courses, achieving an overall 2.00 average, before they can be assigned to practicum ECHD 231. A grade point of 2.00 or better in both major field and liberal arts and sciences courses is the prerequisite for the practicum assignment.
These credits must be distributed as follows: 38 in the major field (see below), 22 in prescribed areas of liberal arts and sciences, and 6 in general electives.
