Associate in Science Degree
(Application Curriculum Code - 0221)

Students interested in mathematics can pursue an A.S. degree. Students majoring in mathematics should be prepared to start their mathematics education at SUNY Cobleskill at least at the precalculus level, preferably at the calculus level. The mathematics program at SUNY Cobleskill features a curriculum in which problem solving and real world applications are emphasized. Technology has been carefully integrated into several of our course offerings. Students receive a University parallel mathematics and liberal arts foundation, fully preparing them for transfer to a four-year institution for the remainder of their mathematics education. Graduates have successfully transferred into a variety of baccalaureate majors such as applied mathematics, mathematics education, statistics, engineering, computer science and many other related fields.

Students whose high school mathematics preparation is less than that suggested may enroll in courses in college algebra and/or trigonometry to prepare for courses in precalculus and calculus. Such students may require an extra semester to complete the A.S. degree requirements.
