Associate in Arts Degree

Social Sciences-Physical Education, Recreation and Sports Studies Concentration

Students are able to identify a concentrated area of study in Physical Education as they pursue the Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree at SUNY Cobleskill. Students are guided through a variety of physical education activity and theory-related courses which are intended to prepare them for an upper-division major in the various fields of study within physical education, sports medicine and sports/recreation management.

Students are also encouraged to pursue athletic team sports and/or intramural athletic activities. Students will gain a background in physical education by enrolling in the courses below.

Core Courses

Physical Education Electives
Students at SUNY Cobleskill can choose from 30 different courses of instruction. A sampling of these offerings are: Aerobic, Activities, Aerobic Dance, Alpine Skiing, Aquacize, Backpacking, Bowling, Canoeing, CPR, Cross Country Skiing, Golf, Mountain Biking, Racquetball, Self-Defense, Swimming and Diving and Tennis.

Liberal Arts and Sciences Requirements
ENGL 101 and one other ENGL course (not including ENGL 099); 6 credits of Humanities/Foreign Language (two different prefixes); 3 credits of Mathematics (not including MATH 101X or 101); 6-8 credits of Laboratory Science; 12 credits of Social Sciences; PORT 290.

Trustees' General Education Core Requirement details

Liberal Arts and Sciences Electives

General Electives
7-9 credits.
