The Department of Plant Science has 11 full time faculty who provide instruction to nearly 350 students enrolled in seven Associate in Applied Science majors, a Bachelor of Technology in Plant Science major with six advisement tracks and three separate Bachelor of Technology majors in Landscape Contracting, Terfgrass Management: Golf Turf Management, and Turfgrass Management: Sports Turf Management.

Students in the Department of Plant Science use our 13 greenhouses, 90 acres of landscaped campus, a 10-acre arboretum, plant production nursery, flower shop, athletic fields, and manicured greens and turf plots for their outdoor classrooms while studying horticulture, floriculture, landscape design and development, nursery management, turf grass management, or recreation and sports area management.

A new 15-station Computer Aided Design lab has been added to Hodder Hall for students enrolled in our nationally recognized Landscape Development and Landscape Contracting programs. Greenhouse facilities have been expanded to provide instructional environments in the popular areas of hydroponic and aquaponic plant production.

Our rural campus has nearby access to ponds, lakes and forests that provide an outdoor learning laboratory for students enrolled in our Environmental Studies major. Agronomy and Crop Production students have easy access to the agricultural facility right on the main campus - a 650-acre complex with an operating farm.

Our Bachelor of Technology programs can prepare you for managerial positions in a variety of plant science and horticultural fields, and feature internships that provide you with hands-on experiences that link the classroom with our industry partners. Since 1987, Plant Science Bachelor of Technology students have completed internships in more than 30 different states, as well as a number of foreign countries, including Holland, Ireland, Denmark, Austria, and Anguilla in the British West Indies.
