Liberty Partnerships Program

The SUNY Cobleskill Liberty Partnerships Program (LPP) is a Comprehensive Academic Enrichment and Dropout Prevention Program serving approximately 360 students in the 5th through 12th grades in eight area school districts:  Charlotte ValleyCobleskill-Richmondville, Jefferson, Middleburgh, SchoharieSharon SpringsSouth Kortright and Stamford

The purpose of LPP is to support and encourage youth in their efforts to successfully graduate high school and be prepared to enter college and the workforce.  We utilize multiple strategies to build academic, social, and emotional skills, such as...

Advocates -- a caring, motivated LPP staff member at each district who monitors student's progress, tutors, mentors, builds life skills, counsels, and advocates for youth and their families in the school and community.

Assessments --  utilizing the Indigo Assessment Tool to ascertain a student's academic and social and emotional strengths and weaknesses in an effort to better understand how to leverage strengths and motivators that align with future goals to achieve academic and life success.

Career Exploration & Education -- exposing and educating students about multiple career fields and the skills needed to obtain and keep a job.

College Exploration & Education -- improving access through campus visits and research to allow students to choose a "good fit" college and get help with the application and financial aid process.

Cultural Enrichment -- providing cultural and intellectual opportunities to build social awareness and skills.

STEAM, Service-Learning, and Leadership -- activities that incorporate Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math while promoting civic awareness and responsibility by providing opportunities to gain leadership skills in their school and community.

Parent Outreach -- involving parents/caregivers of LPP students in the educational process of their children through advising, workshops, and field trips.

Summer Programming -- keeping students engaged in learning with camps, trips, and educational experiences throughout the summer months.
