Turfgrass Management – Golf Turf (B.T.)

Turf Greens

Overview

SUNY Cobleskill offers a B.T. degree in Turfgrass Management. The program is highly respected by industry employers with graduates working managing many top courses throughout the United States including the Los Angeles Country Club, Oak Hill Country Club and Valhalla Golf Club. The College has excellent turfgrass facilities including fairway turf plots composed of creeping bentgrass and of low mow Kentucky bluegrass that are used for research and student projects. There are also two USGA greens adjacent to the Plant Science building that are used extensively for turfgrass management labs. Students gain additional experience on the campus athletic fields and at the Cobleskill Golf and Country Club, which is located only a few miles from campus. Low student-to-faculty ratios and a campus mission that focuses on hands on learning creates a student friendly environment that prepares students for a smooth transition into a golf course management career.  A 600 hour summer internship allows student to work at top golf courses and establish a network for employment after graduation.
