Agri-Enterprise Concentration

“Agricultural business” or “agribusiness” describes the total agricultural industry in the United States. Business activity in agriculture ranges from providing supplies and services to farmers through the actual on-farm production of food and fiber, to the processing and distribution of those products. The Agri-Enterprise field of study is the typical path for two-year agricultural majors to follow in attaining a bachelor’s degree. This broad-based program provides enough flexibility to allow each student to custom design a truly unique educational experience, yet retains the essential knowledge base which ensures successful attainment of long-term goals. These goals may include graduate study, employment in an agribusiness or self employment.

Degree Requirements
To fulfill the requirements for the Bachelor of Technology degree in Agricultural Business, the candidate in the Agricultural Business–Agri-Enterprise Concentration must complete a minimum of 52 credit hours of major field requirements, 12 credit hours of general electives, 26 credit hours of technical electives, and 36 credit hours of liberal arts and science courses.

Major Field Requirements
Upper-division Requirements

AGBU 301 will be required for students entering the B.T. program who have not majored in agriculture for their associate degree.

Technical Electives
26 credits. Courses with the following prefixes: AGBU, AGEN, AGSC, ANSC, ACCT, BADM,CITA, ENHT, ORHT, RECM.

Liberal Arts and Sciences Requirements
36 credits. Includes 6 credits of upper-division courses with two different prefixes. May not include MATH 101X, MATH 101, or ENGL 099.

General Electives
12 credits.

Suggested courses to meet upper-division major field requirements

Students should check with their advisors to make sure courses are taken in proper sequence and any prerequisites have been met. Some flexibility is available as to when courses must be taken. Students should consult with their advisors during the scheduling process.
