Agricultural Communications Concentration

The Agricultural Business - Agricultural Communications Concentration gives students expanded opportunities for post-graduation employment. Students will leave with a good working knowledge of agricultural business, issues in agriculture, as well as significant communications skills in areas such as journalism, documentary production and technical writing. These skills will prepare a student for working as a journalist or freelance writer for agricultural publications, for editing in-house publications, for public relations and marketing, as well as for sales.

Communications is one of the fastest growing areas today, and graduates who can combine good communications skills with knowledge of a specific field of study will find they have the flexibility needed for the workplace of the future.

Agricultural Education Concentration

The Agricultural Business - Agricultural Education Concentration prepares students for post-graduate study leading to employment as public school and/or cooperative extension educators. Students will leave with a good working knowledge of agricultural business, issues in agriculture, as well as being fully prepared for study at the master’s degree level.

AgriEnterprise Concentration

"Agricultural business" or "agribusiness" describes the total agricultural industry in the United States. Business activity in agriculture ranges from providing supplies and services to farmers through the actual on-farm production of food and fiber, to the processing and distribution of those products.

The Agri-Enterprise field of study is the typical path for two-year agricultural majors to follow in attaining a bachelor's degree. This broad-based program provides enough flexibility to allow each student to custom design a truly unique educational experience, yet retains the essential knowledge base which ensures successful attainment of long-term goals. These goals may include graduate study, employment in an agribusiness or self employment.

Equine Business Management Concentration

"Agricultural business" or "agribusiness" describes the total agricultural industry in the United States. Food Distribution and Marketing Concentration

The Agricultural Business - Food Distribution and Marketing Concentration was especially designed to allow a seamless transition for the student with a two-year degree in the foods area business and especially for those students who majored in Institutional Foods. The courses in this concentration will build upon the two-year degree, resulting in an excellent foundation for pursuing a management or marketing position in the business of choice. Employment opportunities range from the independently owned food business to the multinational worldwide businesses that are major players in the world food and fiber industries.

Information Technology Management Concentration

The Agricultural Business - Information Technology Management concentration offers an opportunity for the two-year computer major to apply that knowledge, build upon it and provide a service to the vast computer needs in agriculture. In all facets of agriculture, from global positioning systems on tractors, computerized milking and breeding systems on the farms, through the processing, packaging and distribution of food and fiber products, computers are playing a larger part every day.

Opportunities are nearly limitless and need only the blending of computer and agri-business courses to provide skills for employment in meaningful positions with unlimited potential.
