Questions & Answers
How do I change my bill to reflect the meal plan I want?
New resident students will be billed for the 17-meal plan. You may change this on your semester bill to any of the meal plans. Simply adjust the dollar amount of the meal plan charge and replace the totals with your personal meal plan preference. Please be sure to notify the CobyCard Office by calling 518-255-5886 between the hours of 8:00am and 5:00pm, Monday-Friday, or click here
to view printable version.
Please note: NO meal plan REDUCTIONS can be processed after the first week of classes. Choose carefully.
If you are a continuing student, you should have been billed for the same meal plan that you were on the previous semester, unless you have notified the CobyCard Office of a change.
What happens to any meal remaining at the end of each week?
If you do not use all of your available meals by the end of each week, they cannot be refunded or transferred to a subsequent week. This is in compliance with New York State Sales Tax Law. Strict adherence to this policy assures us of continued tax exemption by the New York State Department of Taxation. Be sure to choose the meal plan that suits your needs.
What if I don’t use all of the money in my Coby Cash Account?
Coby Cash balances carry over from semester to semester. Refunds can be made at the end of the spring semester, upon withdrawal, or at graduation by completing a refund form (see the Important Forms). Minimum balance to be refunded is $10.00. Please note: no cash advances are available with this account.
What if I want to add money to my Coby Cash Account?
Additional money may be deposited at any time. Deposits may be made in person at the CobyCard Office in Champlin Hall, 102 Otsego Ave., Cobleskill, NY 12043, by mailing in the Coby Cash Form (see the Important Forms) or by calling 518-255-5886 for immediate assistance if you prefer to use a credit card.
What if my card is lost or stolen?
You must contact your RD or RD on duty and the CobyCard office at 518-255-5886. CAS is not responsible for the loss of funds due to theft or misuse of the card. The CobyCard contains an antenna coil and integrated electronic chip for keyless Resident Hall entry. This card is your responsibility and must be handled with care. There will be a $25.00 replacement fee for lost, stolen or damaged cards.
What if I swipe my card to go into Champlin Dining Hall and do not find anything on the menu I like … can I get a refund? No. Our menus are posted each day at the cashier station and on our WEB site. In our All-You-Care-to-Eat-Facility (AYCE), meal plans are debited upon entering and are not subject to refunds. Please be sure to check our menus before you enter. In the other areas, you order before paying for your food.
