Leadership in Early Childhood Topic of Second Annual SUNY Cobleskill Symposium
New York State Education Department professionals will be featured speakers at SUNY Cobleskill’s second annual Early Childhood Leadership Symposium on Saturday, April 5 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the college. The event is open to leaders in early childhood education.
“The symposium provides an interactive venue to learn about new initiatives that will impact early childhood education statewide,” said SUNY Cobleskill Early Childhood Assistant Professor and Symposium Associate Coordinator Kathleen Puciato. The symposium will focus on New York State’s new perspective on public education from pre-kindergarten through undergraduate school.
Coordinator of Early Education Reading Initiatives Cynthia Gallagher and the team from the New York State Education Department are involved with developing early learning standards in New York State. At the symposium, they will discuss issues including: Board of Regents Early Childhood policy; recent changes in state law and regulations that impact early childhood; Even Start; nonpublic nursery schools and kindergartens; Board of Regents initiatives to review state learning standards; and universal pre-kindergarten standards and assessment.
The symposium is sponsored by SUNY Cobleskill’s Early Childhood Department in collaboration with the SUNY Cobleskill Office of Community Outreach, Conferences, and Training.
