Student Fashion Show to Support Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation

Xpressions of Kolor (XOK) – a multi-cultural performance club at SUNY Cobleskill that demonstrates cooperation between racial and ethnic groups through dramatic performance – will host its fifth annual Fashion Show on Saturday, April 5 at 7 p.m. in SUNY Cobleskill’s Bouck Auditorium.  The show is open to the public. Tickets are $7 for SUNY Cobleskill students and $10 for non-students. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).

This year 28 students will model in the show’s various scenes ranging from star studded to international to the event’s themed” I AM Fashion” couture. Sponsors, such as Dereon, L-R-G, Wet Seal and Against All Odds, have contributed stylish clothing for both men and women.

The XOK executive board chose JDRF as the beneficiary of the show because they felt the organization “encompassed its vision.” JDRF is the leading charitable funder and advocate of type one (juvenile) diabetes research worldwide. The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. The research foundation was founded in 1970 by the parents of children with type one diabetes.

“We feel that this is a cause people can easily relate to and rally behind,” said Kwame Belle, president of XOK. “The statistics of type one diabetes are overwhelming if not disheartening, and this charity has not only great intentions but is able to turn passion into productivity with strong results.”

There will be a Fashion Show Pre-party on Friday, April 4 from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. at The Frederic R. Bennett Recreation Area and Ski Center. Tickets are $5.
