The Preparation for Veterinary Careers: an Intensive Large Animal Experience - Animal Care Institute at SUNY Cobleskill is a summer course offered at SUNY Cobleskill.
Within the scope of this course, students will gain practical hands on experience with various large animal species.
WHO: students with minimal large animal experience desirous of working in the large animal industry (Vet-Tech, Veterinarian, Research Scientists, Pharmaceutical Company Sales Reps, Agribusiness, etc).
WHAT: Students will rotate between the dairy, equine and livestock areas completing daily supervised work experiences with the respective personnel in these areas. Midday sessions will concentrate on topics
of animal care and management for the species present on campus. The course will conclude with a practical evaluation of knowledge accumulated over the duration of this experience.
WHY: This may be applied to animal and veterinary experience required for most veterinary college applications.

COST: $3020 --This fee includes Room and Board (3 meals a day) for 29 days, medic kit, textbooks, program. Transportation, spending money, and recreation costs are not included in the price. This fee can be paid in the Student Accounts office. This Internship can be used for up to four credits. If students wish to attend for credit, there will be an additional charge of $192 per credit hour. It is the student’s responsibility to obtain approval from their home College for the transfer of credits.
Only twenty (20) students are allowed to register for each institute. Advanced registration is encouraged. You must have at least one year of college to be eligible for this course.
