Parent PLUS Denial and Additional Unsubsidized Stafford Loan Eligibility
Dependent, Undergraduate students whose parents apply for and are denied the Parent PLUS loan, are eligible to borrow additional Unsubsidized Stafford loan. The maximum amount of additional Unsubsidized Stafford loan a student can borrow is determined by their academic standing.
$4,000 - Freshman, Sophomore
$5,000 - Junior, Senior
Federal regulations require that parents apply and be denied for PLUS every year their student wishes to qualify for Additional Unsubsidized Stafford loan.
