  • Part-Time Employee Accrual Information

Per Diem and Hourly Part-time Employees

Attendance Rules Coverage is attained after completion of 19 consecutive pay periods.

The first day of the pay period following completion of 19 consecutive pay periods is the employee's Anniversary Date. Five pro-rated personal days will be credited as of the Anniversary Date.

Employees cannot observe holidays until they attain Attendance Rules Coverage (except for those eligible for 'Anticipated Eligibility').

Once Attendance Rules Coverage is attained, sick leave and vacation leave is credited at a rate of ½ pro-rated day for each of the 19 pay periods of qualifying service.

Anticipated Eligibility

Part-time employees who are expected to be employed at least ½ time on a fixed schedule or at 3 ¾ hours a day, 5 days a week, on a fixed schedule for 9 consecutive months without a break in service exceeding 1 full pay period are eligible to observe holidays and accrue, on a pro-rated basis, vacation, sick leave and personal leave. They are entitled to observe paid holidays, earn and accumulate sick leave and be credited with personal leave as of the date of the appointment and to earn and accumulate vacation upon completion of 13 complete pay periods of service.

All hourly or per diem employees must complete the 9 months of qualifying service before acquiring Attendance Rules Coverage and eligibility for such benefits as jury leave, workers' compensation leave, leave for civil service exams, etc.
