Annual Plant Sale Set for May 7
April 27, 2011
SUNY Cobleskill’s Plant Science department will hold its annual Spring Plant Sale on Saturday, May 7, 2011 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the campus’ Hodder Hall. All the plants are grown by Plant Science students, and the funds raised will be used to support and enhance educational programs.
This year’s sale features an extraordinary selection of big and bulky vegetable plants, culinary herbs, native wildflowers, plants for rain gardens and a large selection of geraniums. New additions to the sale are a selection of Blueberry shrubs, disease resistant American Elms and new selections of perennials.
SUNY Cobleskill’s Plant Science department offers students a variety of opportunities for highly relevant technical preparation for potential employment in agronomy, floriculture and horticulture production, natural resource management and protection, environmental protection, recreational and sports management, turfgrass management, golf course management and landscape contracting. While attending the College, students use the 13 greenhouses, 90 acres of landscaped campus, a 10-acre arboretum, plant production nursery, flower shop, athletic fields and manicured greens and turf plots for education outside the classroom.
