SUNY Cobleskill’s Terry Hughes Honored by the National Association of Agricultural Educators

SUNY Cobleskill’s Terry Hughes has been selected as the 2011 New York winner of the Outstanding Service Citation Award given by the National Association of Agricultural Educators (NAAE). Hughes is also the recipient of the NAAE’s Regional Outstanding Service Award, which he will receive at the NAAE convention in St. Louis in November.
Outstanding Service Citation Award winners are agricultural educators who have made significant contributions to agricultural education. Award criteria include services provided to agricultural educators, programs or student organizations, previous service awards, and membership in professional organizations.
Hughes was recognized for his informative and interesting workshops that engage teachers on the local, state and national level. He has made presentations about the importance of agriculture and agricultural education to multiple SUNY institutions as well as the Association for Career and Technical Education, and is a proponent of various agricultural programs, assisting local endeavors within the Cobleskill-Richmondville, Schoharie Valley, and Sharon Springs school districts.
In addition, Hughes is co-advisor of the SUNY Cobleskill chapter of the National Postsecondary Agricultural Student Organization (PAS) and promotes youth speaking and learning through 4-H, FFA and PAS.
